Role Purpose

The role holder is accountable for the end-to-end completion of all the Structure design assignment for their concerned sub-function. The focus is on driving the areas of design assignments’ performance in terms of quality and safety, people management, Liasoning with the stakeholders, reviewing the progress of the assignment and troubleshooting major issues which hinder the progress of their assignment. The incumbent is expected to ensure the smooth execution of the assignments within timelines and minimum wastage by providing guidance to the design management team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define the scope of the assignment for the Structure sub-function in collaboration with Senior Management.
  • Finalize and approve the estimates and plans for the requirement and optimization of resources - time, manpower etc. for the respective assignment.
  • Review the schedule for the assignment completion and ensure effective allocation of the resources to the determined activities. Pre-determining the design quality, objectives, and measures upon which the design will be evaluated at various stages and its completion.
  • Manage on time execution and ensure adherence to set design standards by minimizing rework. Aid in defining the design framework and guidelines for the planning and bidding team. Ensure that the quality assurance system is implemented and adhered to.
  • Review the design creation progress and identify the underlying deviations from the standards and schedule. Ensure that the design deliverables are on time at the required level of quality and safety. Work with the design director for design optimization and final approval on designs. Ensure adherence to all compliance as well as SOPs set by GRIL corporate office.
  • Liaison with the client, consultants, and relevant government officials to acquire necessary approvals, when ever needed. Apprise the team and senior management (Design Director and Head – Design) about the delivery progress and request support for providing necessary inputs for smooth execution.
  • Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders, including Vertical Leads in the organizational the progress of the delivery.
  • Facilitate development and growth of direct and indirect reportees while keeping track of overall sub-function employee engagement and attrition.
  • Ensure all the employee grievances are handled in the appropriate manner with no impact on the delivery timelines and the quality of the delivery.
  • Ensure capability building through continuous learning & adopting innovative design approaches.

Indicative Experience and Exposure

  • Diploma in Civil/ Mechanical/ Electrical with 15-19 years’ experience in handling design for construction projects.
  • BE/ B. Tech with 13-17 years’ experience.
  • M. Tech with 12-16 years’ experience in handling design of construction projects.
  • Experience in 4-8 design delivery assignments.
