Assistant General Manager

Role Purpose
The role is responsible for driving the strategic vision, development, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise applications, including SAP and other business-critical software platforms. This role ensures seamless integration across functions, robust architectural governance, scalable application ecosystems, and business-aligned technology roadmaps that support operational efficiency and long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Application Strategy & Portfolio Management:
- Define the multi-year enterprise applications roadmap aligned to evolving business priorities across EPC, Developer, and corporate functions.
- Assess application landscape regularly to identify redundancies, modernization opportunities, and functional coverage gaps.
- Lead cross-functional discussions with Business Partnering teams to capture emerging application needs and ensure solution fit.
Enterprise Architecture, Standards & Integration
- Define and enforce enterprise architecture principles, standards, and technology frameworks across the company.
- Establish application architecture blueprints aligned with current and future-state business capabilities.
- Lead integration strategies across on-premise, cloud, and hybrid systems using middleware, APIs, or RPA tools.
SAP Ecosystem Ownership:
- Own the architecture, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of SAP ERP, SuccessFactors, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), and other SAP modules.
- Supervise both SAP Basis Support and ABAP Development, ensuring alignment with business process owners across Finance, Procurement, HR, Planning, and Project Controls.
- Lead process harmonization, template standardization, change management, and enhancements across SAP. modules (FI/CO, MM, PP/QM, etc.).
- Manage upgrades, patch cycles, testing, and coordination with SAP support vendors and internal users.
Non-SAP Business Applications Oversight
- Govern the full lifecycle of a large set of function-specific applications used across GRIL’s operations—including tools in Design (e.g., AutoCAD, STAAD, Plaxis).
- Safety (ESG Tool), HR (Smart Attendance, SuccessFactors), Planning (Primavera), and Procurement.
- Ensure performance, licensing, configuration management, updates, and integration with SAP or other enterprise platforms.
Vendor Collaboration & Tool Onboarding Support
- Collaborate closely with the Digital Transformation team in selection, onboarding, and implementation of new applications.
- Provide technical due diligence, fitment validation, and architecture review during vendor evaluation processes.
- Ensure post-go-live stabilization and support readiness in collaboration with internal and external partners.
Team Leadership & Capability Development
- Build and lead a multidisciplinary team of SAP experts, solution architects, and application managers.
- Identify emerging skill needs (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, API integrations, industry-specific tools), and work with HR to plan learning & development interventions.
Indicative Experience and Exposure
- B Tech / M Tech in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum of 18+ years of experience in digital development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong expertise in .NET, ABAP, Java, Power BI, SharePoint, Python, and other relevant technologies.
- Proven experience in managing all stages of the SDLC.
- Experience with database management, cloud computing, web and mobile technologies, API development, version control systems, and performance optimization.
