Role Purpose
- The role holder supports the manager in liaisoning & executing legal activities.
- The incumbent is responsible for drafting external communications such as letters, notices, petitions, queries, affidavits, etc.
- The incumbent reviews all amendments to contracts and communications with external parties.
- The role holder will also be involved in court proceedings and managing advocates.
- The role holder will stay up-to-date with the changes in laws of specific industries, labor laws, or any other policy changes.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaisoning & Execution –
- Draft contracts, leases, model contract clauses, letters, notices, Power of Attorney/Authority, petitions, queries, affidavits, etc.
- Read & review amendments to contracts, review all correspondences with external parties and raise red flags, if any.
- Attend court proceedings, talk to witnesses, manage advocates, brief advocates about specific requirements.
- Monitor whether legal compliances are being met on the project sites and corporate office.
- Check for compliances applicable for subcontractors, vendors and relevant laws.
- Schedule compliance checks/audits to monitor all contractual legal compliances and maintain a check list for the same.
- MIS & Reporting –
- Resolve any issues related to the specific section and ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Ensure all project information, is properly documented and secured and reported.
- Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders, including senior management, on the progress of the project.
- Maintain litigation status in MIS, maintain query letters, notices, etc.
Indicative Experience and Exposure
- Law degree from a premier law school with 2-6 years of relevant experience in contract drafting, reviewing and negotiating.
- Ability to handle commercial transactions and other applicable areas of law.
- Prior experience of working with leading corporate law firm, corporate clients (external or internal).
