Role Purpose

The role holder is accountable for strategic planning and monitoring the progress of Geo Tech (Structure) design delivery. Responsible for defining the design framework and guidelines for Geo Tech (Structure). The incumbent is also accountable for managing clients and getting major approvals on design elements, materials, and other licenses from various government departments. The incumbent is expected to oversee the various aspect of Geo Tech (Structure) design management; provide necessary inputs in designs and work directly with other unit heads to ensure projects meet their expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define the Geo Tech (Structure) design framework and the standard GRIL guidelines. Define the scope of the design assignments in collaboration with senior management. Finalize the assignment team.
  • Review and approve the high-level work plan for the team which outlines the sequence of activities needed to successfully complete the design assignment.
  • Finalize and approve the estimates and plans for the requirement of resources - time, manpower etc. for the design assignments.
  • Provide oversight on design assignments for on time execution and meeting client and GRIL quality standards. Drive focus on adherence to codal requirements/ contractual agreements.
  • Design the guidelines for the planning and bidding team to follow in each type of bid.
  • Review the progress of all the assignments and identify the underlying deviations from the schedule. Ensure that the design assignment deliverables are on time and at the required level of quality and safety.
  • Own SOPs for the design function and define SLAs for adherence to all statutory guidelines as well as quality guidelines set by GRIL. Facilitate design optimization and innovation in construction methodology leading to cost benefits.
  • Coordinate with the business units, consultants and relevant government officials for high level discussions and getting necessary approvals.
  • Apprising the clients and the Head - Design about the progress of the design assignments and facilitate the inputs needed from their end for smooth completion of the assignments.
  • Facilitate development and growth of direct and indirect reportees’ while keeping track of overall function employee engagement and attrition.
  • Ensure capability building through continuous learning & adopting innovative design approaches.

Indicative Experience and Exposure

  • Diploma in Civil/ Mechanical/ Electrical and approx. 20 years’ experience in handling design for construction projects.
  • Bachelor of Engineering/ B. Tech / M. Tech with more than 17 years’ experience in handling design for construction projects.
  • Experience of managing 15-20 design delivery assignments.
