Role Purpose
This role is responsible for end-to-end management of GRIL’s (along with its Subsidiaries, Group companies) legal matters by assisting in litigation handling, coordinating with external advocates/consultants, and ensuring comprehensive preparation and monitoring of legal cases. The role holder acts as a key internal association to guide project teams, executives, and various functions on legal queries and compliance requirements. Additionally, the incumbent supports engagement with government authorities on regulatory, compliance, and project related matters to mitigate risks, strengthen governance, and prevent potential litigation. The position plays a critical role in operationalizing legal strategies, ensuring documentation accuracy, and maintaining seamless communication between the project teams, legal leadership, and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the formulation and execution of the legal strategy, operational framework, and process guidelines for projects.
- Assist the bidding team by identifying legal risks and ensuring incorporation of clauses that safeguard the Company from potential disputes or litigations.
- Make assessments of a given dispute and further create executive summaries to brief the Board.
- Coordinate with relevant govt. depts and ministries on matters related to policies, regulatory requirements, and statutory compliance and with external advocates/consultants by preparing briefs, monitoring progress, reviewing submissions, and providing recommendations to the Lead.
- Communicate legal advisories, opinions and expectations received from senior management and the Lead – Legal to project teams and relevant functional departments.
- Provide analytical and preparatory support to the Head – Legal and Contract Management Cell in managing legal disputes and contract-related matters
- Review draft contracts, agreements, leases, and other legal documentation to ensure alignment with organizational policies and minimize legal exposure.
- Support the end-to-end litigation management process—including documentation, tracking hearings, and updating internal stakeholders.
- Provide project legal toolkits to Project Managers and mobilization teams and ensure timely completion of location-specific compliances.
- Conduct periodic project site and office level audits to assess adherence to legal compliances and report findings for corrective actions.
- Liaise with internal departments to resolve legal queries, review functional documentation, and suggest preventive measures to reduce risks and avoid litigations.
- Assist in legal due diligence exercises for project sites and corporate-level requirements
- Prepare scheduled updates and MIS reports for stakeholders on ongoing legal matters, project compliances, and litigation status.
Indicative Experience and Exposure
- Law degree from a premier law school with 7 - 10 years of relevant experience in contract drawing, reviewing and negotiating.
- Ability to handle commercial transactions and other applicable areas of law.
- Prior experience of working with leading corporate law firms, corporate clients (external or internal)
