Role Purpose

The role holder supports the Vertical Lead – Operations & Maintenance at office in managing inspection, maintenance, and rehabilitation activities of bridge assets at projects. Responsible for ensuring implementation & adherence of O&M strategy with focus on structural safety, compliance, and asset reliability as per IRC standards. The incumbent is responsible for overseeing inspections, condition assessments using NDT techniques, and rehabilitation works, ensuring quality execution and BMS-driven planning, while ensuring optimal O&M performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Detailed inspection of Major & Minor Bridges, Flyovers, ROB/RUB, VUPs, Box Structures and associated structural components
  • Condition assessment of superstructure, substructure, bearings, expansion joints, deck slabs, piers, abutments, and foundations
  • Preparation/review of distress mapping, condition rating, and inspection reports
  • Sound knowledge and application of relevant IRC Codes for inspection, maintenance, rehabilitation, and load rating of bridges
  • Structural evaluation and review/validation of load rating calculations
  • Planning and monitoring of repair, rehabilitation, and strengthening works including concrete jacketing, FRP strengthening, bearing replacement, expansion joint replacement, crack injection, grouting, and steel strengthening
  • Technical vetting of method statements, material specifications, and execution methodology
  • Implementation and monitoring of Bridge Management System (BMS) and preparation of annual maintenance planning & budgeting
  • Conducting structural due diligence and technical audits of O&M assets
  • Exposure to Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques such as Rebound Hammer, UPV, Half-Cell Potential, etc.
  • coordination with Independent Engineers, consultants, contractors, and authority representatives.

Indicative Experience and Exposure

  • B. Tech / B.E. / Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum 12+ years of relevant experience in highway infrastructure projects
  • Significant exposure to bridge inspection, condition assessment, and structural maintenance
